Project Description
After realizing that a typical General Contractor (GC) project would only allow the District to complete some of the work they wanted, Nicholas County Schools decided to combine a Guaranteed Energy Savings Contact (GESC) project with Performance Services for a hybrid project approach. The District installed multiple improvements funded by savings, which helped solve a funding gap and allowed for a more complete facility renovation.
The project’s HVAC improvements included new water-source heat pumps, outside air units, and a completely new variable refrigerant flow HVAC system. The District also received new LED lighting, upgrades to their building automation system, building envelope improvements, and upgrades to their telecommunications savings.
