Project Description
After conducting a thorough evaluation of its aging water infrastructure, the City of Wilmer selected Performance Services to implement a smart water meter modernization project. The project will replace the City’s old mechanical meters with new ultrasonic smart meters and pair them with an advanced metering infrastructure. Together these improvements will allow the City to more accurately track water usage and increase its utility efficiency by reducing manual work processes. As a result of these improvements, the City will see $68,446 in annual operational savings and revenues throughout the 20-year contract period.
The project will include the installation of 1,008 Badger® water meters across the City and will connect them to the Badger Advanced Metering Analytics (AMA) system called BEACON. The system will utilize cellular technology to capture and send water meter data. Additionally, the project also provides an online portal and smartphone application, EyeOnWater, that will allow customers to view, manage, and track their water usage data in near real-time.
