Brightening the Future with LED Investments

Brookland Schools is the fastest-growing district in the state of Arkansas. However, the district faced an energy efficiency gap—many of its buildings still relied on outdated lighting, leading to higher energy costs and maintenance demands.

Recognizing the need for long-term energy and operational savings, the district partnered with Performance Services for a comprehensive facility assessment. While multiple opportunities for facility improvement were identified, one was consistent across the district: LED lighting.

With a roughly $900,000 investment, Brookland Schools aimed to replace outdated lighting with high-efficiency LED systems across all facilities. The new lighting not only improves visibility and learning environments for students but also provides substantial energy savings. The projected payback period? Less than 10 years—meaning the cost savings from reduced energy use would quickly cover the investment.

Project Highlights

  • Lighting retrofit of all existing fluorescent, incandescent, and HID fixtures to LED. Facilities include the Administration Building, Pre-K Building, Elementary School, Middle School, Junior High School, Field House, Football Complex, High School, and the Special Services Building.
