Project Description
Austin ISD embraces sustainability as a driving force behind its mission to provide a comprehensive educational experience that is high quality, challenging, and inspires students to make a positive contribution to society. Following a competitive process, the District selected Performance Services to implement a district-wide Energy Leadership program to reduce energy and water consumption across the district, while also improving comfort levels throughout the schools.
The contract also includes an energy savings performance project (ESPC) impacting 10 buildings comprising 2.5 million square feet of district infrastructure. The project and program will result in guaranteed savings of $16,585,513 over 10 years. Improvements include high efficiency LED lighting, power conditioning, water conservation, and building automation controls with programming and optimization improvements. The Energy Leadership program is expected to reduce combined energy and water use by 15 percent.
The new Energy Leadership Program will offer teacher and student engagement opportunities that will directly impact the sustainability mission.
