John joined the Performance Services team in 2024. He spent his career working with educational clients facing the challenges and opportunities in the built environment. His goal has been to find unique and sustainable solutions for buildings that relate sensibly to their environment. He has guided clients and their communities around the globe through a deliberate and thoughtful process of investigation and discovery.

John was born in Boston, Massachusetts and is a graduate of Colgate University, Rhode Island School of Design and held a teaching assistantship at Syracuse University. He is a registered architect in multiple states and a member of the AIA and NCARB. Over the course of his career, he has served as the Director of Design/Studio Director, VP/Chief Operating Officer and Managing Partner for several leading architecture firms where he was instrumental in establishing the design direction of major educational commissions for both the public and private PreK-12 sectors as well as in Higher Education.

He led campus master planning and design efforts in diverse geographic regions that include The Middle East, Central Asia, Northern Africa, and the People’s Republic of China. A significant portion of his career has been focused on public education facilities in large urban centers, collaborating with constituencies to find ways architecture can stabilize communities by capturing a new sense of identity through educational facility design. He recently led the Higher Education efforts for Fanning Howey Architects in Ohio.

He is a recognized educational facility planner, architect, author and teacher. His work has been featured in State, National, and International Design Journals and has received multiple awards from the American Institute of Architects. He has lectured on planning and design at Syracuse University, the Boston Architectural College, the University of Pittsburgh, and Virginia Tech and recently served as an Adjunct Faculty member in Architecture at Bowling Green State University in the School of Architecture & The Built Environment.

Outside of work, John and his wife enjoy vacationing and playing with grandchildren, while his personal interests are in jazz, professional sports, politics & world history, and garden design
