Ashland, KY. On Wednesday, May 15th, 2024, Fairview Independent School District turned the dirt to celebrate the start of construction to upgrade its outdoor athletic facilities. The school district celebrated with a community-wide cookout.
The staged project will construct new KHSAA regulation baseball and softball fields and associated amenities to enable the hosting of home night and post-season games. The upgrades to the sports complex will include press boxes, dugouts, and bullpens. The project will also provide improved parking, access, and restroom and concession stand facilities. These renovations will dramatically enhance the district’s athletic programs and provide student-athletes and the Westwood community with top-level facilities.
Superintendent Jackie Hawley thanked everyone in attendance at the groundbreaking and said, “It is because of our dedicated Board of Education, our Westwood Community, and everyone on Team Fairview that we have this opportunity to have the facilities our student-athletes need. It is evidence of the dedication and hard work of many who understand the importance of athletics in educating students. This project is an investment in our future, and we are grateful for the community’s support.”
