We encourage minority business participation and are successful in awarding work to Minority Business Enterprises (MBEs), Women Business Enterprises (WBEs), Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBEs), Veteran Business Enterprises (VBEs), and other disadvantaged businesses as part of our project teams. We work closely with clients and utilize our process to ensure we create awareness and notice to encourage minority participation in our projects.
- Identify minority contractors, suppliers, and consultants utilizing state and local city lists.
- Contact state and local minority business assistance agencies to locate minority contractors, suppliers, and consultants.
- Contact known minority contractors, suppliers, and consultants via phone and/or email and issue requests for bid forms.
- Contact the local Union or Trade Association for input on potential minority subcontractors and/or supplier recommendations.
- Provide technical assistance in reviewing projects, provide office space to review PSI bid documents, and provide free copies of plans and bid documents.
- Develop and design trade packages to create opportunities for minority participation, including dividing contracts.
- Periodically review and update the Minority Business Participation Plan based on stakeholder feedback and changing regulations.
