A recognized leader in Colorado’s public capital construction space, Kate Sawyer brings decades of experience in real estate development, integrated design-build, and municipal infrastructure projects. A 7th-generation Texan with a lifelong passion for the mountains, she made Colorado home in 1998 and eventually established herself as a trusted partner in community-driven construction and development.

Kate’s career began in client-focused roles, and after earning her real estate license in 2001, she gained firsthand experience developing projects of her own. This expertise led her to the integrated design-build industry, where she discovered her passion for helping communities realize critical infrastructure projects. Over the years, she has played a key role in delivering schools, fire stations, public works buildings, and other publicly funded projects across Colorado.

Kate has successfully guided multiple municipalities through the complexities of bond initiatives, BEST Grants, DOLA grants, and other capital planning, ensuring that communities receive the facilities they need. Her portfolio includes significant projects such as Salida’s new fire station, Yuma’s high school and elementary school expansion, Dove Creek’s new elementary school, Holyoke’s ADA upgrades, Julesburg’s master plan, and Mapleton’s extensive renovations, new builds, and additions. Her ability to navigate public funding, community engagement, and construction execution has made her a respected figure in the industry.

Now at Performance Services, Kate is excited to leverage her expertise to further support Colorado communities in developing sustainable, high-performing infrastructure.

Her greatest pride and joy are her four children: Cody, a former collegiate wrestler at Western Colorado University who now coaches and serves as a sheriff’s deputy; Gage, an offensive lineman for the University of Tennessee football team studying finance; Emmie, a high school student passionate about volleyball and interior decorating; and T.O., a middle schooler who plays guitar, lacrosse, and enjoys making us all laugh.

Beyond her professional achievements, Kate thrives in the outdoors and enjoys cycling, hiking, volleyball, cooking, and live music. She approaches every project with the same passion and energy she brings to her family and community, dedicated to making a lasting, positive impact across the state.
