Students and staff from Merrillville Community Schools cutting a purple ribbon to celebrate the opening of the new career and technical education wing

Merrillville, IN. Merrillville Community School Corporation School Board and Administration proudly celebrated the opening of the new Career & Technical Education (CTE) wing on Tuesday, October 8th, 2024.

“The CTE wing will serve as an outstanding platform for our dedicated educators to facilitate teaching and learning in a state-of-the-art facility. We are extremely excited about the future of our great school corporation as we work to provide our students with the very best hands-on, real-world experiences,” expressed Judy C. Dunlap, MCSC Board of Trustees President.

This impressive 57,000 square foot addition includes specialized classrooms and state-of-the-art labs for automotive, welding, fire rescue, and construction trades. Designed with future growth in mind, the expansion also allows for additional educational offerings to meet the evolving needs of students and industry demands. By modernizing the District’s current programs and locating them in the same facility, the space will foster collaboration and enable students to transition seamlessly from classroom learning to hands-on experiences.

Combining cutting-edge facilities with a curriculum focused on practical skills and real-world applications, the addition equips students with the tools necessary for success in their chosen careers. This holistic approach ensures that graduates are not only academically prepared but also ready to make meaningful contributions to the workforce or pursue future education and training opportunities.
